06/09/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 31 August, the European Commission sent the Union for the Mediterranean’s ministerial declaration on transport to the Member States for approval before the next ministerial conference, which will take place on 3 October in Cairo. This ministerial declaration, which follows on from that of November 2013, should serve to reaffirm Euro-Mediterranean cooperation, in particular by establishing the future Trans-Mediterranean Transport Network (TMN-T), which will eventually be connected to the European TEN-T. The ministerial declaration also puts regulatory convergence in the maritime, road, rail, air and urban transport sectors back at the centre. In this respect, the competent ministers are set to also approve another report on cooperation in the field of transport at the forthcoming ministerial conference, confirming the move towards harmonised standards between the two sides.
