27/07/2022 (Agence Europe) – BusinessEurope published a series of recommendations on the European Commission’s strategy on standardisation on Wednesday 20 July. It asks that the strategy does not undermine the New Legislative Framework (NLF) for products by creating a parallel system. Common specifications should be a time-limited “fallback option” until harmonised standards are available. If common specifications are published, it is essential that they follow the standards and that the “appropriate” scrutiny process is applied, as set out in Regulation 1025/2012 on European standardisation, the employers’ organisation insists.
