Erasmus +, Commission selects 20 new European Alliances under its 2022 call for projects

The European Commission announced on Wednesday 27 July the selection of 20 new European University Alliances under its 2022 call for ‘European Universities’ supported by Erasmus+.

This new selection is in addition to the 24 university alliances already selected in 2020, says a statement, covering a total of 44 ‘European universities’ that bring together 340 higher education institutions located in capital cities and remote regions of 31 countries (Serbia, Turkey, Iceland and Norway are participating).

“European universities” are alliances of higher education institutions from all over Europe that cooperate in education, research and innovation for the benefit of students, teachers and society, the Commission notes. The Erasmus+ programme has devoted €272 million to them for the period 2021-2027. In autumn 2022, the Commission will launch a new call for projects. European University Alliance for Global Health, The European University of Social Sciences, European University for Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability and The European University of the Seas Alliance are some of the university alliances selected by the Commission in 2022.
