The European Commission and the Ukrainian authorities signed an association agreement with the European Union’s health programme, EU4Health, on Friday 15 July. This was announced the same day by Health Commissioner Stella Kyriakides, who visited a children’s medical centre and a rehabilitation centre in Kyiv, where she met with Ukrainian Health Minister Viktor Liashko.
This signature follows a request from the Ukrainian authorities on 9 September 2021 to be associated with the EU4Health programme.
The European Commission clarifies that the agreement is retroactive to 1 January and that Ukraine will be able to access funding opportunities under the programme from now on, notably to support and modernise its healthcare system. (Original version in French by Émilie Vanderhulst)
