Annual meeting between European Commission and European Court of Auditors

On Wednesday 13 July, the colleges of the European Commission and the European Court of Auditors met in Luxembourg for the annual meeting between these two EU institutions.

Both reaffirmed their commitment to continue constructive cooperation as the EU's executive and audit powers, while at the same time exploring ways to deepen their collaboration in full respect of their respective roles. Members of the Commission and the Court of Auditors discussed how the EU budget contributes to achieving the Union's political priorities, produces concrete results for citizens and adds value to the work of Member States.

Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Court of Auditors President Klaus-Heiner Lehne underlined the crucial importance of the Next Generation EU recovery plan for the EU’s dual green and digital transition.

Both also reaffirmed their shared commitment to ensuring that EU funds are managed according to the highest standards of accountability, transparency and sound financial management. And to recall the key role of the Member States in protecting the financial interests of the Union. (Original version in French by Lionel Changeur)
