29/04/2022 (Agence Europe) – The pace of negotiations is too slow and too little progress has been made recently on the agriculture package at the World Trade Organization (WTO), according to Gloria Abraham Peralta (Costa Rica), who is chairing the discussions on the subject. At the 12th Ministerial Conference (MC12), from 12 to 15 June, an agreement is expected or hoped for on this issue, but this prospect is becoming more remote. Members agreed to include elements on food security in the final text, due to the current context. However, they are divided on permanent public food storage measures. On this and other issues, a compromise is not yet within reach, according to a Geneva source. (LM)
