Upcoming European Parliament/EU Council negotiations on revision of directive on transfers of funds scheduled for 14 June at political level

The draft revision of the directive on the transfers of funds to include crypto-assets was discussed on Wednesday 27 April in trilogue negotiations between the European Parliament and the Council of the EU.

It was a constructive first trilogue”, a source told EUROPE on Friday 29 April. “Quite a large number of issues were delegated to the technical level, in the hope of advancing work as much as possible between now and the next political trilogue, tentatively planned for 14 June”, she added.

The French Presidency of the EU Council’s objective is to conclude the negotiations by the end of June. Included in the package of measures against money laundering and terrorist financing, this legislative proposal aims to ensure the same traceability for regular money transfers as for crypto-asset transfers (see EUROPE 12924/19).
