30/03/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 29 March, the European Commission published a study positively assessing the effects of the POSEI and Smaller Aegean Islands programmes for 2015-2019. The EU supports the agricultural sectors of the outermost regions (ORs) - Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Mayotte, Saint-Martin and Réunion (France), the Canary Islands (Spain), the Azores and Madeira (Portugal) and the smaller Aegean islands (Greece). The POSEI (programme of options specifically relating to remoteness and insularity of the outermost regions) and SAI (Smaller Aegean Islands) programmes have been successful in achieving their objectives, particularly as regards the supply of agricultural products to the areas concerned. The benefits of these schemes have been passed on to consumers in the respective Member States in the form of lower prices than elsewhere on the continent. Link: https://aeur.eu/f/115 (LC)
