23/03/2022 (Agence Europe) – The spokesperson for the European External Action Service expressed concern on Wednesday 23 March about reports of a new interruption of the gas supply to Stepanakert/Khankendi (Nagorno-Karabakh). “There is an urgent need to ensure the immediate resumption of the gas supply to the affected local population, especially in the context of dire weather conditions”, the spokesperson said in a statement, calling on the relevant authorities to allow this to happen. Following the first supply disruption on 8 March, the EU encouraged Azerbaijan to actively engage on the issue, which led to repair work and the resumption of the gas supply on 19 March. The spokesperson warned that the EU was closely monitoring the situation. (CG)
