The European Commission announced on Thursday 20 January that it has launched the 2022 calls for proposals for programmes to promote European agri-food products in the EU and abroad.
As in 2021, the focus this year is on promoting products and methods that more directly support the objectives of the European Green Deal, such as organic products, fruit and vegetables and sustainable agriculture, the Commission explained.
The promotion of EU agri-food products inside and outside the EU is allocated €185.9 million from the EU budget (see EUROPE 12855/26).
Out of this total, €176.4 million is dedicated to co-financing promotion programmes that will be selected from proposals responding to the calls published. The remaining funding will be used to support EU initiatives in this area.
Finally, for campaigns abroad, markets with high-growth potential are prioritised, such as Japan, South Korea or Canada.
Proposals must be submitted before 21 April 2022 via the dedicated portal. The Commission will evaluate the proposals and announce the beneficiaries in the autumn.
