20/01/2022 (Agence Europe) – One in three workers was employed in either a surplus or a shortage occupation, according to the 2021 ‘Annual shortage and surplus occupations report’, published by the European Labour Authority (ELA) on Wednesday 19 January. According to the report, which covers the second half of 2020 and the first quarter of 2021, the pandemic has unsurprisingly accelerated a number of phenomena, including the shortage of workers in healthcare and, with the explosion of remote working, in software and IT. For ELA, it is of utmost importance to develop a European tool to help workers find a job anywhere in Europe. The Authority believes that worker mobility, particularly in border regions, can solve the shortage problems. To view the report: https://bit.ly/3523LjD (PH)
