18/01/2022 (Agence Europe) – According to a survey of 8,000 people in seven European Union countries (the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Romania and Spain), 76% of respondents support stricter EU standards for nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from cars, said the NGO Transport & Environment (T&E) on Tuesday 18 January. According to these people, manufacturers should be legally obliged to reduce the emissions of new cars as much as is technically possible. Nearly two thirds (65%) of respondents also said that they would be prepared to pay up to €500 more to buy a car that emitted less pollution. According to the European Commission’s estimates, this is the maximum cost per car of a significant reduction in car pollution for manufacturers, T&E said.
