14/01/2022 (Agence Europe) – Vice President of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič and UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss held their first meeting at Chevening (UK) on Thursday 13 and Friday 14 January and agreed to meet again on 24 January, after further negotiations on the Northern Ireland Protocol next week. “The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere”, the two leaders commented in a joint statement on 14 January. “We share a desire for a positive relationship between the UK and the EU”, they said. The two sides parted in December with progress on the delivery of medicines to Northern Ireland, but former minister David Frost left office shortly afterwards, saying he disagreed with Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s choices.
