European Commission launches a first call for contributions on its Media Freedom Act

The EU will have a Media Freedom Act as of the third quarter of 2022. The text aims to “safeguard media freedom and pluralism in the European internal market”.

The project had been mentioned several times by Commissioner Thierry Breton (see EUROPE B12702A28), confirmed by the President of the European Commission herself (see EUROPE B12791A7), and then was made official by Vice-President Věra Jourová (see EUROPE B12792A28).
