Brussels, 09/12/2021 (Agence Europe) – The High Representative of the Union, Josep Borrell, warned, on Thursday 9 December that the EU was ready to “use all the tools at its disposal” and was looking for “ways to strengthen the resilience of Ukraine”, which is facing a Russian troop build-up on its border. After a meeting with the new German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, he reiterated the EU’s “unequivocal” commitment to supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Ms Baerbock said the EU should show solidarity with Kiev and that the Union should keep up the pressure on Belarus. These issues will be discussed at the Foreign Affairs Council of the EU on 13 December. The High Representative and the minister also discussed climate diplomacy, China, Iran and the promotion of EU values and interests. (CG)
