09/12/2021 (Agence Europe) – The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced, at the World Summit for Democracy on 9 December, the launch of the €1.5 billion Global Europe Human Rights and Democracy programme. It will be used to support civil society organisations outside the EU. It has five overarching priorities: - protecting individuals; - building resilient, inclusive and democratic societies; - promoting a global system for human rights and democracy; - safeguarding fundamental freedoms, including through new technologies; - and delivering by working together.
