06/12/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Action Plan for the Social Economy, which is on the agenda of the College of Commissioners on Wednesday 8 December, is expected to propose a definition of the social economy at European level, in order to clarify the difference between social enterprises and social economy enterprises. According to a source consulted on Monday 6 December, this would allow for more activities to be included, as social enterprises represent only a fraction of the social economy. In addition, the action plan should focus on improving the visibility of the sector and on the issue of access to finance, particularly in the context of public procurement. It should include an external component to encourage international exchanges with social enterprises from third countries. (PH)
