Proposed revenue collection changes do not go far enough, says EU Court of Auditors

Proposed changes to the way the EU budget is collected are generally a step in the right direction, but they do not go far enough, according to an opinion published on Tuesday 5 October by the European Court of Auditors.

Changes to the way EU revenue is collected were proposed at the end of June 2021. In 2021, the system of EU financing was reformed with some changes to two of the revenue sources (own resources and VAT-based contribution). A new own resource based on non-recycled plastic...
