16/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 13 September, the Slovenian Presidency of the EU Council submitted new provisional conclusions on space policy (see EUROPE 12786/9). Entitled “Space for everyone”, the conclusions point out, among other things, that the European space sector is still concentrated in Member States with an already well-established space sector and therefore requires a more balanced distribution. Interestingly, the conclusions explicitly support the development of secure connectivity based on the GovSatCom programme, but with the proviso that this is without prejudice to the budget and implementation of the EU space programme. They call on the Commission and the EU Space Programme Agency (EUSPA) to carry out normative and regulatory work to strengthen the dissemination and exploitation of EU space services.
