According to the results of a Eurobarometer survey published on Friday 10 September by the European Parliament, 81% of participants say that the EU should only grant funds to the Member States that respect the Rule of law and democratic values.
Similarly, a very large proportion of respondents (85%) consider it important for the EU to prioritise respect for its fundamental values, such as democracy, human rights and the Rule of law, in its relations with key international actors.
