01/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties gave the green light on Wednesday 1 September to the updated agreement on short-stay visas and mobility with Cape Verde in a recommendation adopted by 50 votes to 14 with 4 abstentions. The new visa facilitation agreement updates a previous agreement from 2014. Visa applications will be cheaper, and several categories of people (including family members of EU or Cape Verdean citizens) will have to present fewer documents when applying for a visa. The agreement also provides for the possibility of granting multiple-entry visas to holders of previous short-stay visas who have not had any legal problems. The European Parliament as a whole will still have to give its consent. (SP)
