01/09/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 1 September, European Parliament President David Sassoli said that he was “disappointed” that the previous day’s meeting with EU Ministers for Home Affairs did not result in any concrete commitments to taking in Afghan refugees (see EUROPE 12780/1). “We were very disappointed. We have seen countries outside the EU offering to take in Afghan asylum seekers, but we have not seen a single Member State do the same”, he said in a press release. “Everyone rightly thought of those who worked with us and their families, but none had the courage to offer refuge to those whose lives are still in danger today.” (SP)
