31/08/2021 (Agence Europe) – According to a decision of the European Parliament’s Secretariat-General dated mid-July and effective from Wednesday 1 September, a European Parliament staff member will be able to inform their line manager of their wish to telework once a week (standard mode). Line managers may also authorise a staff member to telework two days (intermediate mode) or three days (maximum mode) per week, with reasons given for any refusal. In all three modes, they may ask the staff member to return to work in situ in the interests of the service or in the event of an unforeseen emergency. A survey on how the European Parliament telework scheme is working will be carried out every two years, the first one in 2023. The European Parliament’s political groups and MEPs may decide to apply the rules of the Secretariat-General of the European institution to their teams.
