Brussels. Council of the EU. Agriculture and Fisheries Council. – Organic production: adoption of conclusions on the action plan for the development of organic farming (as part of the ‘Farm to Fork’ strategy). – International trade and the United States: the Commission will brief the Ministers on the ongoing negotiations with New Zealand, Australia, and Chile; the ongoing discussions at the WTO in view of the ministerial meeting at the end of the year; and relations with the United States; the Ministers will have a discussion with the US Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack, in particular on agriculture and climate change. – Slovenian Presidency: the Slovenian delegation will illustrate the Presidency’s work programme. – Other business: information from the Commission on the European citizens’ initiative ‘End the Cage Age’; information from the Austrian delegation on improving animal welfare in turkey farming; request for exceptional financial assistance from the Greek delegation for its olive oil sector, which has been affected by extreme weather conditions, and from the Cypriot delegation for sectors affected by fires.

Informal Meeting of Ministers for Competitiveness. *Research: first discussion under the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU on the current proposals of the European Commission in the field of research and innovation (Pact for Research and Innovation in Europe; Global Approach to Research and Innovation). In the margins of the meeting, discussion on the reform of the European Research Area (ERA).

Proposal for a revision of the Own Resources Decision (von der Leyen/Hahn). Proposal for a revision of the regulation on the 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework (von der Leyen/Hahn) (the presentation of the package could be postponed).

Informal meeting of Environment Ministers (and 210/07). – ’Fit for 55’ package: discussion with Commission Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans and first informal responses to the package. – COP26: preparation of the International Climate Conference in Glasgow in November.

Informal Meeting of Environment Ministers. – Biodiversity: Discussion with Environment Commissioner Virginius Sinkevičius on the preparations for the Meeting of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP15) and, in this context, the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF). – Presentation by the Commissioner of the Report on the Implementation of the Pollinator Initiative.

Kranj, Slovenia. Council of the EU. Informal Meeting of Ministers responsible for Competitiveness. *Internal Market and Industry: the meeting on ‘Building a Green, Creative and Intelligent Future’ will focus on the transition to a circular economy and on creative industries as a driver of added value in the economy, two priorities of the Slovenian Presidency.
Kranj, Slovenia. Council of the EU. Informal Meeting of Ministers for European Affairs (General Affairs) (and 23/07). – Presentation of the Slovenian Presidency’s priorities, in particular in the areas of enlargement, the rule of law and activities related to the Conference on the Future of Europe.
