16/07/2021 (Agence Europe) – The annual inflation rate in the euro area was 1.9% in June, down from 2.0% in May, according to data released by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) on Friday 16 July. In the EU, it stood at 2.2% in June, compared with 2.3% in May. The lowest rates were observed in Portugal (-0.6%), Malta (0.2%) and Greece (0.6%), while the highest rates were recorded in Hungary (5.3%), Poland (4.1%) and Estonia (3.7%). Inflation was 1.3% in Italy, 1.9% in France, 2.1% in Germany and 2.5% in Spain. In June, the largest contributions to inflation were made by energy (+1.16 percentage points, pp), followed by industrial goods excluding energy (+0.31 pp). (MB)
