16/07/2021 (Agence Europe) – Slovenia’s new Minister of Justice, Marjan Dikaučič, assured a press conference on Friday 16 July after the informal meeting of EU Justice Ministers in Brdo that he wanted the “rapid” appointment of the two European Delegated Prosecutors for Slovenia (see EUROPE 12735/5). A new call for applications has been published and is open until 26 July, he explained. In doing so, he reiterated Slovenia’s support for the European Public Prosecutor’s Office and its desire to see the new body fully operational. For his part, the European Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, recalled that the Commission is looking forward to the appointment of the Slovenian European Delegated Prosecutors “as soon as possible” and that it will otherwise consider “all possible actions”. Slovenia is now the only country participating in the European Public Prosecutor’s Office that has not made these appointments. (MF)
