12/07/2021 (Agence Europe) – The EU Council decided on Monday 12 July to extend the European Union’s economic sanctions against Russia by six months, until 31 January 2022. The European Council of 24-25 June 2021 decided to extend the sanctions because of Russia’s incomplete implementation of the Minsk agreements. These measures restrict access to EU primary and secondary capital markets for certain Russian banks and companies and prohibit forms of financial assistance and brokering to Russian financial institutions. The import, export or transfer of any defence-related equipment and dual-use goods for military use or to military end-users in Russia is prohibited. Access to certain sensitive technologies that can be used in the Russian energy sector is also limited. (CG)
