01/07/2021 (Agence Europe) – On 29 June in Matera, Development Ministers from the 20 richest countries, invited for the first time to participate in a G20 meeting, reiterated their full commitment to the UN's 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - in particular the ‘zero hunger’ goal - to support a strong, inclusive and sustainable recovery in developing countries as part of a global response to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The final communiqué highlights the G20’s efforts in the areas of sustainable development financing, territorial development and local implementation of the SDGs. The theme of the G20 Leaders’ Summit under the Italian Presidency (30-31 October in Rome) will be ‘People, Planet and Prosperity’.
