02/06/2021 (Agence Europe) – Ms Ramona Iulia Chiriac was appointed on Wednesday 2 June as Head of the European Commission’s Representation in Bucharest. In this capacity, she will act as the European Commission’s official representative in Romania, under the political authority of President Ursula von der Leyen. She will take up her post on 1 July 2021. Ms Chiriac, a Romanian national, is a career diplomat with almost 20 years of experience in EU affairs, also at local level in Romania. Ms Chiriac has been Consul General of Romania in Bavaria, Germany, since 2016 and a member of the Romanian diplomatic service since 2008. (LC)
