21/05/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 21 May, EU Member State ambassadors gave the political green light to the 17 May agreement between the Council of the EU and the European Parliament on the revision of the Blue Card Directive (see EUROPE 12721/22), which aims to attract highly skilled third country workers to the EU. The agreement was generally welcomed, said one source. It will need to be formally approved by the European Parliament before being returned to the EU Council. The proposed EU Blue Card will not compete with national systems to attract highly skilled migrants, rather improves intra-EU mobility conditions and rights for its holders, who will, for example, encounter fewer procedures to work in another Member State.
