23/04/2021 (Agence Europe) – The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, announced on Friday 23 April that a summit between the EU and the United States would be held in mid-June, taking advantage of the visit of US President Joe Biden to Brussels for a NATO summit on 14 June (see EUROPE 12704/34). According to Mr Michel, as well as the President of the European Commission and the White House, the summit will be an opportunity to discuss cooperation in the fight against Covid-19 and economic recovery, climate, digital and trade cooperation, multilateralism and current geopolitical challenges. An EU Council source said that the exact date of the EU-US summit had not yet been set. Before going to Belgium, Mr Biden will attend the G7 summit in the UK from 11-13 June. (CG)
