09/04/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Public Prosecutor’s Office announced on Friday 9 April that it had signed a working arrangement with the Office of the Prosecutor General of Hungary. Hungary is indeed one of the Member States that decided not to join the European Public Prosecutor’s Office. Thus, any future judicial cooperation between the European Public Prosecutor’s Office and Hungary in criminal matters will be based on existing EU legal instruments. For the gathering of evidence, for example, the European Investigation Order will be used. The arrangement aims to facilitate the practical implementation of the existing legal framework and provides for the possibility of posting a Hungarian liaison officer to the European Public Prosecutor’s Office headquarters in Luxembourg as well as the establishment of European Public Prosecutor’s Office contact points in Hungary. The arrangement also allows both parties to exchange strategic and non-operational information that does not contain personal data. See the arrangement: https://bit.ly/3s4UvRy (MF)
