26/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – The EU and Armenia discussed, on Thursday 25 March, at the 11th Human Rights Dialogue “reforms in the judicial and penitentiary sectors, anti-discrimination policy, freedom of assembly and expression and labour rights” the EEAS announced. According to the EEAS, Yerevan has confirmed its commitment to further judicial reforms, including the principle of equality before the law, the independence of the judiciary and an effective checks and balances mechanism. In the run-up to the early elections on 20 June, issues of electoral reform at national and local levels and Armenian efforts to preserve the integrity of the electoral process and its institutions were discussed. The parties also discussed the human rights and humanitarian implications of Covid-19 and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. (CG)
