The Conference of Presidents of the European Parliament’s political groups (CoP) approved on Thursday 18 March the list of seven MEPs who will represent their political group on the executive committee of the Conference on the Future of Europe.
Despite the official request of European Parliament President David Sassoli to ensure gender parity in this delegation (see EUROPE 12676/20), the political groups all reappointed their representatives.
The list remains as follows: Manfred Weber (EPP, Germany), Iratxe García Perez (S&D, Spain), Guy Verhofstadt (Renew Europe, Belgium), Gerolf Annemans (Identity and Democracy, Belgium), Daniel Freund (Greens/EFA, Germany), Zdzisław Krasnodębski (ECR, Poland) and Helmut Scholz (The Left, Germany). That is, six men and one woman.
Co-chaired by the Commission, the European Parliament and the EU Council, the Executive Committee will be responsible for steering the day-to-day work of the Conference. It is expected to meet for the first time next week.
The Committee of the Regions and the European Economic and Social Committee have not appointed their representatives. (Original version in French by Mathieu Bion)
