05/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – The co-Chairmen of the ECR group in the European Parliament, Poland’s Ryszard Legutko and Italy’s Raffaele Fitto, made a barely disguised appeal, on Friday 5 March, to the twelve Hungarian MEPs who have left the EPP group (see EUROPE 12670/2). “The ECR Group is the true home of conservative values and Eurorealism”, they said in a statement. And added: “Our values champion the family as the bedrock of society, the sovereign integrity of the nation state, opposition to EU federalism, and a renewed respect for true subsidiarity. (...) We also want effectively controlled immigration and to put an end to the abuse of asylum procedures”. And to guarantee that the sovereignist group “has always been open to those who share our values and who consider the ECR Group as a possible political home”. (MB)
