18/02/2021 (Agence Europe) – On the basis of a decision that will enter into force on Friday 19 February European Parliament President David Sassoli has decided that, in order to protect the health of staff, the European Parliament plenary session starting on Monday 8 March will take place in Brussels. In the decision, he states: “The threats and challenges arising from the Covid-19 pandemic continue to be exceptional and, in light of the highly contagious mutations of the coronavirus, continue to create unpredictable circumstances beyond the control of Parliament”. The concern of the European Parliament’s medical service about the epidemiological situation, particularly the “increasing” circulation of mutants of the virus in the department of Bas-Rhin, which includes Strasbourg, was also mentioned. In March, it will be a year since MEPs stopped meeting at the Parliament’s headquarters. (MB)
