16/02/2021 (Agence Europe) – The Council of the European Union will soon use the written procedure to adopt conclusions on the budget guidelines for 2022. This is what emerged from the economy and finance ministers’ discussions on Tuesday, 16 February. The budgetary procedure for 2022 will be the second in the 2021–2027 programming period. The guidelines indicate that, in this respect, the EU budget will play an important role so as to contribute to the “recovery of the European economy in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic”. The Council of the EU will also recommend to the European Parliament that the European Commission be given a discharge in respect of the implementation of the EU’s 2019 budget.
