16/02/2021 (Agence Europe) – As interinstitutional negotiations over the coordination of social security systems are set to resume, Ceemet, which represents employers in the metal, engineering and technology industries, has expressed concern about specific points in the negotiations in a statement issued on Monday 15 February. The association is requesting a temporal exemption to prior notifications before sending a worker, and not an exemption according to the type of activity, as is the preference of the European Parliament. This approach would ensure legal certainty for businesses, especially when pursuing urgent repair activities, it explained. In particular, it would avoid exponentially increasing the administrative burden. The Portuguese Presidency of the EU Council hopes to present a proposal – intended to renew the negotiating mandate – to the national delegations on Wednesday 24 February (see EUROPE 12658/25). According to our information, interinstitutional negotiations could resume on 1 March. (PH)
