04/02/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 3 February, the Defence Ministers of the trio Presidency of the EU Council - Germany, Portugal and Slovenia - discussed the latest developments in European defence policy, ahead of the informal meeting of defence ministers on 2 and 3 March. According to a press release issued by the German Ministry of Defence, the discussions focused on the strategic compass, the EU strategy for maritime security and transatlantic security and defence relations, amongst other matters. The trio discussed possible concrete measures for rapid implementation of a coordinated maritime presence in the Gulf of Guinea and measures to get the new European Peace Facility operational. (CG)
