03/02/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 3 February, the European Commission approved the Dutch plan to grant restructuring aid of €35 million to AEB Holding N.V. (‘AEB’), a waste-to-energy company based in Amsterdam, which has been in difficulty since July 2019. In November 2019, the Commission approved a €80 million Dutch rescue loan for the company. Of the €80 million approved, only €35 million has actually been disbursed. As the rescue aid that was paid out was not repaid within 6 months of being granted, the Netherlands submitted a restructuring plan with aid (a loan of €35 million). The Commission found that by allowing AEB to continue its activities, the aid will avoid the interruption of waste treatment. (LC)
