22/01/2021 (Agence Europe) – The Chairwoman of the European Parliament Committee on Budgetary Control (CONT), Monika Hohlmeier (EPP, Germany), invited the Portuguese Minister of Justice to a joint meeting of the CONT and LIBE Committees on the European Public Prosecutor's Office on 26 January, in the presence of Laura Codruța Kövesi, Chief Prosecutor of the European Public Prosecutor's Office, and the European Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders. “It can be expected that questions concerning the nomination of members to the College of European Prosecutors, including especially the cases of Belgium, Bulgaria and Portugal will be brought up during the meeting” (see EUROPE 12641/7), she wrote in a letter sent on Thursday 21 January to the Portuguese Ambassador to the EU, Nuno Brito, and seen by EUROPE. At the time of going to press, however, the presence of the Minister of Justice was not confirmed on the agenda for the meeting and the Portuguese Presidency had not responded to our request for information.
