22/01/2021 (Agence Europe) – In response to a request from North Macedonia and Mongolia for assistance from the EU’s civil protection mechanism, personal protective equipment against coronavirus has been delivered to these two non-Member States, the European Commission announced on Friday 22 January. The Czech Republic sent 126,000 oxygen masks and 5,000 protective suits to North Macedonia. France sent 400 oxygen masks, 200 nasal cannulas, generators and other related items to Mongolia. In a statement, the European Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarčič, said he was “grateful to the Member States who continue to put EU solidarity into action”. The Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) is coordinating the assistance. The EU is financing up to 75% of transport costs. (AN)
