European Commission adjusts 2021 budget to take into account Brexit Adjustment Reserve

22/01/2021 (Agence Europe)On Friday 22 January, the European Commission proposed an increase of €4.24 billion (€4 billion at 2018 prices) in the EU budget for 2021 to incorporate funds from the Brexit Adjustment Reserve. This will ensure that sufficient resources will be available this year to help EU countries deal with the immediate effects of the UK’s exit from the EU. The total Brexit Adjustment Reserve amounts to €5 billion euros in 2018 prices, i.e. €5.37 billion in current prices over the period of 2021-2027 (the remaining €1 billion euros will be paid in 2024). This first amending budget for 2021 implies an increase in the 2021 budget to €168.5 billion in commitments and €170.3 billion in payments. See the proposal: https://bit.ly/2MbHiYa (LC)
