MEPs give green light to European Parliament/EU Council agreements on InvestEU programme and structural reform support instrument 

12/01/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament’s Committees on Budgets (BUDG) and Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) validated, on Monday 11 January, two provisional interinstitutional agreements drawn up in December 2020. The Parliament/EU Council agreement on InvestEU (see EUROPE 12618/21), the successor programme to the ‘Juncker’ investment plan after 2020, was approved by a strong majority (76 votes in favour, 6 against, 20 abstentions). In addition, the Parliament/EU Council agreement on the proposal for a Regulation establishing a European technical support instrument for structural reforms in the Member States was endorsed by a strong majority (76 votes in favour, 10 against and 11 abstentions) (see EUROPE 12624/4).
