According to the European Commission’s annual report on customs enforcement, published on Thursday 17 December, counterfeit goods worth €760 million were seized at the EU’s external borders in 2019, an increase of €20 million compared to 2018.
In total, almost 41 million items that infringed intellectual property rights were seized in 2019, an increase of 53% compared to 2018 (see EUROPE B12332A7).
