03/12/2020 (Agence Europe) – Responding to EUROPE, Hubertus Heil (SPD), the German Federal Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, said at a press conference on Thursday 3 December that he was “confident” that progress would be made in December to reach an agreement with the European Parliament on the regulation on the coordination of social security systems. He sent a message to Parliament’s rapporteur on the text, Gabriele Bischoff (S&D, Germany): “Whoever wants progress in Europe, democratic and social progress, must also be able to make compromises”. And to launch that without an agreement, the negotiations risk getting bogged down again. According to one diplomatic source, the issue of prior notification before sending a worker to a host country is the most difficult point. For the export of social benefits and the definition of pluriactivity, it would be possible to reach an agreement. (PH)
