12/11/2020 (Agence Europe) – MEP Roberta Metsola (EPP, Malta) was elected on Thursday 12 November as the first Vice-President of the European Parliament. By the deadline of Monday 9 November, she was the only candidate for the post, proposed by her political group, the EPP. She is the first Maltese MEP to hold the post and replaces Irish EPP MEP Mairead McGuinness, who has become European Commissioner. (CG)
