10/11/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 9 November, the European Parliament's Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) adopted, by 26 votes to 6 with 1 abstention, the own-initiative report by Maria Noichl (S&D, Germany) on the European Union's strategy on gender equality (see EUROPE 12492/10). This strategy, which was presented last March by the European Commission (see EUROPE 12440/7), was broadly welcomed by MEPs. In particular, they emphasised the need to take into account the consequences of the Covid-19 crisis, which had particularly worsened existing gender inequalities (see EUROPE 12470/16). (AC)
