22/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson, announced via Twitter on Thursday 22 October that she will have an “in-depth [discussion] with the Croatian authorities” on various reports, including that of the Danish Refugee Council, about the refoulement of migrants and degrading treatment at the border with Bosnia-Herzegovina. “I will also discuss the further development of the supervisory mechanism that the Croatian authorities have put in place with the financial support of the Commission. The Croatian authorities have committed to investigate reports of ill-treatment at their external borders, to monitor the situation closely and to keep the Commission informed of progress”, the Commissioner said. The Danish NGO collected the testimonies of 70 migrants from Miral camp who recounted this ill-treatment. (SP)
