22/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, urged Armenia and Azerbaijan on Thursday 22 October to resume negotiations on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict “without preconditions and without delay” under the auspices of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group. “All actors, including external parties, should refrain from any actions that may result in the continuation of hostilities and further casualties”, he stressed during a meeting in Brussels with the President of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian. The day before, the Armenian Prime Minister had ruled out a “diplomatic solution” to the conflict. At the meeting, Mr Borrell also called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and strict observance of the ceasefire by all. He also recalled the obligation of the parties to fully respect international humanitarian law. (CG)
